Landmarks staff moves COA application text amendments to city council; plans biannual report to council

Green Bay Landmarks Commission staff told the commission on June 18 that proposed text amendments to the COA application received unanimous support from the Plan Commission and will go to city council for two readings.
Staff listed the items to be added to the COA application — rooftop mechanicals, skylights and commercial signs — and said the changes will be incorporated once council completes two readings. A staff member said, "They were like rooftop, mechanicals, skylights, commercial signs, those things that we reviewed at the last meeting. So that should be floating through pretty quickly." Commissioners asked whether the item could be handled in a single reading; staff said it would check whether that is possible. Staff also reported it has prepared a biannual report, at the recommendation of Alder Hutchison, to brief city council on the commission's workload, approvals, tax credit projects and the revolving loan fund. Staff said the goal is to present updates twice a year to keep preservation work "top of mind" for council.
Staff noted there have been no appeals recently and that one staff-level COA this month was for fencing. The commission set its next meeting date for July 16, 2025.
