Valley Stream trustees approved a $1,135,000 contract with the Valley Stream Fire Department to provide fire protection, including emergency and ambulance services, for the fiscal year beginning June 1, 2025, and ending May 31, 2026.
At a public hearing, a village official described the contract’s purpose as protecting life and property within the village limits and within districts with which the village has contracted for fire protection. "In consideration for furnishing such services, the village will pay the fire department the sum of $1,135,000," the official said.
The board moved and adopted Resolution 083-25 during the meeting. Roll-call votes shown in the record were unanimous: Trustee Tufarelli, Trustee Waszak, Trustee Daley and Mayor Faire voted yes. The record does not specify who made or seconded the motion.
The contract language presented at the hearing states the department will furnish all services rendered, including emergency and ambulance services, to protect against loss by fire within the village and contracted districts. No additional contract terms, amendments or implementation schedule were discussed in the public hearing record.
The village will implement the contract effective June 1, 2025. The board did not discuss related budget line items, alternative vendors, or contingencies during the hearing, and no public comments on the contract are recorded in the hearing segment.
