Heather Jackson Briggs addressed the board, saying she had not expected her career to go in this direction but called prosecution of crimes against children the most rewarding legal work of her career and thanked the board for the opportunity.
Board members congratulated Briggs; Williams and the county will complete a formal swearing-in ceremony as noted during the meeting.
No policy or budget changes were associated with the appointment at the meeting; Williams said the position is budgeted.
