District athletic leaders described a proposed, low-overhead sponsorship program that would place a 10-foot digital scorer’s table in the high-school gym and sell advertising to local businesses through an outside company that also supplies banners and signage.
The district’s athletics presenter, Mister Fennel, explained the vendor would solicit local sponsors, install the table and provide gym and stadium signage; the vendor’s model covers equipment and banners and then splits sponsorship revenue 50/50 with the district until the equipment and materials are paid off. “There’s no overhead cost for us. The installation is the only thing that we would cover,” Mister Fennel said.
Presenters told the board the company would target many local businesses with lower-priced sponsorship packages (for example $2,000–$2,500 three-year packages in the presentation) rather than seeking a few large corporate sponsors. If the vendor meets sales targets and pays for the equipment in the first 3 years, the district would begin receiving its share of sponsorship revenue thereafter. The packet included an example cost shown for the table and a projected revenue scenario; administrators emphasized the district would retain final approval of sponsors and of ad content.
The board discussed booster-club interests and asked that the vendor avoid contacting businesses the boosters already support. Administrators said they would instruct the vendor to honor a district-provided list of businesses to approach and to route proposed contracts and content to the district for approval before any advertising runs.
No contract was approved at this meeting; the item was moved to the Thursday agenda for formal consideration once final contract language and booster-club coordination steps were clarified.
