"Pawfest 2025 is an adoption and an awareness event, also licensing too with our partners, Regional Animal Services of South King County, to really raise awareness for not only licensing your pet, but also, just bringing awareness to all of the adoptable animals and services that are provided all throughout our region," Speaker 1 (event organizer) said.
The event included more vendors this year at the Showare Center in Kent, according to another speaker, who called it their second year participating. "I think this event is awesome, and it's really great to have it at ShowWare this year because we've increased the amount of vendors," Speaker 1 said. A different speaker added, "I love the turnout. So it's been a wonderful partnership. And on top of the wonderful partnership, we get to adopt out a lot of animals in Kent," describing adoptions as part of the event's outcomes.
Speakers emphasized that the event was not limited to cats and dogs: organizers said it aimed to highlight adoptable animals across the region and to help address what they described as concerning shelter overcrowding in South King County and elsewhere. One speaker said the event had a strong representation of rescue groups and families showcasing pets, and that community support for rescue efforts was evident.
No formal actions, policy changes or funding decisions were announced during these remarks. Organizers described Pawfest as an outreach and adoption effort supported by local partners and Regional Animal Services of King County; they urged licensing and adoption as ways residents can help relieve shelter crowding.
