Deming Public Schools names superintendent, approves two-year $150,000 contract

The Deming Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Nick Bogomath as superintendent and approved contract terms that begin in July 2025 and run for two years with an annual salary of $150,000.

The appointment and contract authorization include standard administrative provisions: leave according to board policy, an expectation that the superintendent reside within the district, use of a district vehicle for business purposes, professional membership and equipment-use clauses, and a requirement that other terms substantially conform with the state model contract for administrators. The board also authorized the board president, in consultation with legal counsel, to prepare and enter the final contract reflecting negotiations held in executive session.

Board members voiced support for the motions during a transition from closed session to open session. The motion to contract with the named superintendent was moved and seconded and was followed by roll-call affirmations from board members. The board then approved a separate motion authorizing the board president to complete the contract negotiations and execute the agreement in consultation with legal counsel.

Nick Bogomath, the board's superintendent designee, addressed the board after the vote, saying, "I'm humbled and and honored, for your choice to allow me to," and later, "I'm ready to get to work." The board president confirmed she had joined the meeting in person before the vote.

The board announced its next regular meeting for June 19, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the district Administration Building.
