Mounds View board approves multiple policy updates, deletes two older policies

The Mounds View School Board on June 17 approved a set of revised district and board policies and voted to delete two policies that administrators said were no longer in active use.
The board's policy subcommittee — Vice Chair Heidi Danielson, board member Alyssa Dier Nelson and former board member Amy Jones — spent the year reviewing policies to align language with current practice, update pronouns and references, and reflect the district's equity promise, Danielson said. The full board reviewed the recommended changes at several work sessions before the June action.
Danielson said the subcommittee recommended deletion of two policies: BG0204 (public feedback process) and EG5150 (naming district facilities), because the district has revised its feedback processes and the facility-naming policy had been inactive. She said most other changes were minor language updates and housekeeping to reflect current board governance and review schedules.
Board members thanked the committee for the work. The board moved to adopt the presented policy revisions and to delete the two recommended policies; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The district will publish the revised policy language and the list of deletions as part of its records and administer the updated review schedule going forward.
