District urges township to sign shared‑services agreement to avoid summer program disruptions; auditor RFP, extraordinary aid and staffing gaps flagged

The Operations, Facilities and Finance Committee reported several items that could affect district operations and community programs.

Business Administrator Andrew Italiano told the committee the current shared‑services agreement with the township expires June 30. The proposed agreement includes revised usage schedules and the township’s summer programming requires district facilities such as the pool and courts. Committee members said the township must return a signed agreement by June 30 to avoid interruptions; without a signed agreement the district will not grant township access to facilities after that date.

It was also reported that the district’s auditor Request for Proposals (RFP) was advertised in the Courier News on June 13 and will run for 21 business days, with proposals due July 24. Committee members emphasized adherence to the timeline; the advertisement will also be posted on the district website.

The district submitted its extraordinary aid application this month; administrators said they worked with special education staff to capture eligible expenses and expect a final award amount to be shared with the board in August.

Committee members flagged a long‑open vacancy: the Assistant Business Administrator position has been unfilled for seven months, creating operational strain and leaving no certified backup for VA/Board Secretary roles. The committee said it will expand advertising and continue the search.

Board leadership also said they secured a meeting with township leadership, the superintendent, mayor and park director to try to resolve the pool access and shared‑services issues within the timeline. No formal board action was taken at the meeting; the committee will monitor RFP submissions, extraordinary aid award results, and the assistant business administrator recruitment.
