The Superior Common Council approved a redevelopment authority report and sale of a parcel at the northeast corner of Tower Avenue to REOW LLC and Chinese Lantern of Superior Inc. to allow the China Inn restaurant to relocate from its current Belknap Street site.
Director Sook told the council the sale was for $52,000 and described the lot as roughly 250 by 140 feet, currently occupied by supplies from Chippewa Valley Concrete, which will vacate by September so the restaurant can begin construction. The development is anticipated to include banquet rooms and a restaurant footprint somewhere in the 4,000–6,000 square‑foot range; the developer is still finalizing architectural details and landscaping.
Paul Stein, representing Chinese Lantern and REOW LLC, said the location fits the business’s needs, that the move is intended to increase tax revenue and employment, and that the restaurant is a destination business with a customer base the owners expect will support banquet and meeting services.
Councilors moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote; the mayor declared the motion carried.
