Wendy Wiggins, a department staff member who presented the item, described the contracts: a new three‑year cleaning contract with Power for Cleaning LLC for MDE administrative facilities ($176,000); a $30,000 modification to EMSLink to capture summer program data for child nutrition reporting; a one‑year extension and $20,000 increase for Business Computers of Memphis to continue database support; a one‑year contract with Mr. Kent to provide technical and hearing services ($156,001.92); a no‑cost extension for Applied Enterprise Management Corporation related to an SLDS grant; and the five‑year DRC consolidation not‑to‑exceed $81,000,000.
The board also approved grants and grant modifications: a three‑year competitive McKinney‑Vento awards package totaling $5,800,000 serving 13 districts; competitive MCOPS grants totaling $1,800,000 covering 278 schools and reporting 171 resource officers; and two EIR grant extensions adding $100,000 each to support literacy coaching in Holmes County Consolidated and a special‑education teacher mentor program in Ocean Springs.
All consent items were approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Wiggins asked the board to indicate any items to pull from consent; none were pulled. The board accepted the contracts and grants as presented.
