Council refers reconsideration of updated 2012–2013 general fund budgets to Committee of the Whole

Vice President McKenzie asked that a previous vote on updated general fund budgets be reconsidered and referred discussion to the Sept. 18 Committee of the Whole so the mayor can be present; council approved the referral.
Council Vice President McKenzie asked the Superior City Council to reconsider a prior vote approving updated 2012 and 2013 general fund budgets and to refer discussion to the Committee of the Whole meeting on Sept. 18 so the mayor could attend.
McKenzie cited continuing concerns raised by two councilors at the prior meeting and said “we owe that to the taxpayers” to allow more discussion before a public hearing. He asked that the matter be reconsidered and then referred. The council voted to reconsider and then voted to refer the discussion to the Sept. 18 Committee of the Whole; both motions passed by voice vote.
No changes to the budgets were adopted at the meeting; the referral schedules further discussion with the mayor present.
