Planning Director Cirque told councilors the parcel is one of a series of bank‑donated properties the city has acquired after earlier bank foreclosures and demolitions on the northeast corner of North Thirteenth Street. “This is the third one that we've been able to take,” Cirque said. He said the city already holds parcels at 19, 21 and 23 (numbers provided in the discussion) and that the parcel is developable and suitable for a single‑family home.
Cirque said the city has used donation agreements several times in the past year and that banks sometimes donate properties with houses on them; city staff evaluate each donation for site characteristics before accepting it. Councilors asked for clarification of the city’s ultimate goal; Cirque said the goal is to move the properties to development “eventually.”
Councilors moved and seconded the donation agreement; the motion passed by voice vote.
