Committee amends and advances Lee Avenue speed-hump bill covering 36th–46th blocks

Committee members asked for details about how many humps would be installed. Keyes said the intent was at least one per block “if not” more depending on block length, and she accepted a friendly amendment to change the bill’s specific language from “1 speed hump shall be installed” to “speed humps shall be installed … as needed.” The committee adopted Amendment No. 1 and a subsequent amendment to the installation wording, all by voice consent.
Members discussed whether bus routes still run on Lee Avenue; Keyes and other members said the route might have been rerouted and that they were not sure. The clerk and sponsor said the Streets Department would determine the appropriate number and placement of humps based on block length and engineering considerations.
After the amendments, Keyes asked for a do-pass recommendation and the committee carried the bill as amended with no recorded objection. The record includes no installation schedule or cost estimates.
