Needham commission empowers chair to publish Good Neighbor Award survey online

The Needham Commission on Disabilities voted June 17 to empower its chair to publish the Good Neighbor Award survey on the Town of Needham website and publicize the nomination form, with the survey to go live effective July 1.
Commissioners approved a motion authorizing the chair to coordinate with the town's communications director to host the survey as an online form. The director of communications will create a website form so the commission can link to it and accept nominations beginning July 1.
During discussion members said the chair should be empowered to make the survey public while some subcommittees do not meet over the summer. Commissioners agreed this would allow outreach to proceed in advance of fall activities and to fold survey publicity into other planned communications, including a potential Observer article about the commission's work.
A roll-call vote recorded yes votes from Carol, Tatiana, Maureen, Alexa, Jeannie and others present; the motion passed unanimously. Members asked staff to publicize the link and to incorporate the survey into upcoming outreach events.
The commission will review responses once the survey is live and reported back at fall meetings.
