Council awards North Eighth Street geothermal replacement contract to Bob's Excavating

The Klamath Falls City Council authorized the city manager to execute a construction services contract with Bob's Excavating Inc. for the North Eighth Street geothermal replacement project in an amount not to exceed $723,110, and approved a contingency allowance of approximately $144,006.22.
Water Manager Robbie West told the council the construction contract completes the final phase of a project for which design and pre‑purchase of pipe were previously authorized. West said Bob's Excavating came in under the engineer's estimate, which staff noted was a favorable outcome for the project.
"They actually came in under engineer's estimate," West said, adding that the work will complete the geo loop and is expected to provide new pipe to Temeraming Shores and other system connections. Council approved the motion after a second and a voice vote.
The contingency allowance will be available to cover unforeseen conditions during construction. No detailed construction schedule was provided at the meeting; council approval authorized staff to finalize contract execution and begin construction mobilization.
