Klamath Falls council adopts 2025–27 biennial budget and accepts state revenue‑sharing funds

The Klamath Falls City Council adopted a resolution Monday to approve the city''2025–2027 biennial budget and later approved a separate resolution to accept state revenue‑sharing funds for 2025–26 and 2026–27.

Finance Director Jessica Lindsey told the council the budget presented matched amounts previously approved by the budget committee and recommended adoption. "We're presenting it to you at the amounts that were approved by the budget committee," Lindsey said at the hearing. The state revenue‑sharing resolution was described by Lindsey as the formal acceptance required by the state and said the funds are typically used for general government purposes such as liquor and cigarette tax distributions.

Councilors held a public hearing on the biennial budget; no members of the public spoke. Councilor Stenberg, Councilor Angelique, Councilor Russo and Kimberly Williams recorded aye votes during the roll call on the budget resolution. The city manager read each resolution by title before council moved to approve them.

The state revenue‑sharing resolution will allow the city to receive its allocated share of liquor, cigarette and related taxes for the coming biennial period and to designate those funds for general government uses as permitted under state rules.

City Manager Jonathan Tigert read the title of each resolution aloud during the meeting and council acted by motion and roll call. Finance staff did not present a detailed line‑item breakdown during the meeting; Lindsey said the figures match what the budget committee already approved.

Councilors did not request additional amendments during Monday''s proceedings. The council scheduled no further public hearings on these items at the meeting and will implement the appropriations as written in the adopted resolutions.
