The Milford City Council authorized the city manager to engage the Shared Resource Center for fiscal-services support at a contract cap of $7,500 per month to help the city improve internal finance processes and cover staffing shortfalls.
City staff said the group specializes in public-sector finance work and can deliver services on an hourly basis; if the city elects later to hire a consultant provided through the Shared Resource Center, the contract can be terminated and the consultant hired directly. The arrangement is intended to provide flexibility—either as a short-term band‑aid or as a pathway to a permanent hire.
Council approved the authorization and noted the cost cap was included to provide budget certainty, although staff did not expect the monthly total to reach the cap. The law director will draft the contract ordinance and the city manager was authorized to execute the agreement once finalized.
Staff said Shared Resource Center would assist with finance workload, internal controls, and could support recruitment for a permanent finance director if council so directed in the future.
