Regional crop educator previews June–July field days, flags weed resistance concerns

He previewed a small grains and cover crops field day in Janesville on June 24 and said foundational crop scouting field days for early‑career agronomists will follow on June 26 in Lancaster and Arlington.
Josh also reminded members of a forages and cover crops field day at the Arlington Agricultural Research Station on July 15 and described the Wisconsin Water and Soil Health Conference planned for December in Wisconsin Dells, which merges prior cover crops and discovery farms conferences.
He said traps deployed for moths and slugs have been useful tools for on‑farm pest assessment and that his outreach included attending the Walworth County dairy breakfast to meet producers. He said the land conservation department has helped invite farmers to events even when they are not held in Walworth County.
No committee action followed the report; Josh invited members and farmers to attend the events.
