RSU 06 board accepts preliminary ESEA grant allocation for fiscal 2026

The RSU 06 / MSAD 06 Board of Directors voted unanimously to accept the preliminary Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) program allocation summary for fiscal year 2026.

Superintendent Gleeson told the board that this is a routine annual action and that some amounts remain undetermined. "This is standard about this time each year. We, the board votes to accept, these awards that come from the state. And some of the amounts are undetermined, but we're going ahead with approval because we're told that the money will come," Superintendent Gleeson said.

The board approved acceptance of the awards to allow the district to proceed with planning and eventual expenditures once the state confirms final allocations. Board members asked no questions before the roll-call vote; the clerk recorded "10 members voting in the affirmative." The superintendent said a number of line items in the packet are placeholders pending state notice and that overall funding is expected to be approximately flat compared with recent years.

The board's acceptance does not itself allocate funds to specific programs beyond the standard grant-acceptance authority; line-item and program-level uses remain subject to future staff recommendations and any applicable state requirements. The superintendent said amounts that have been determined are included in the packet and that other funds were left as placeholders until the state releases final figures.

The vote was a formal acceptance of the preliminary allocation; board members did not amend the allocation document during the meeting. The district will post updated information when the state finalizes allocations and will bring any necessary program-level proposals back to the board for approval.
