The superintendent briefed the committee June 16 on two districtwide initiatives: a comprehensive enrollment/redistricting study tied to the new school opening, and a communications audit recommending technology and workflow changes to improve messaging and transparency.
On enrollment and redistricting, the superintendent said a vendor‑assisted demographic and geographic analysis is underway and the district has mapped an outreach timeline that begins with internal planning meetings this fall and the first public webinar on October 16, 2025. The district plans a second public meeting on December 3, 2025, a school‑committee review in January 2026 and a committee vote in February 2026—timed so a final plan is available roughly 18 months before the new school opens, allowing families and transportation planners to prepare.
The superintendent said the district will host a dedicated website with interactive maps and a public survey so families can review proposed boundary scenarios and submit feedback. "There'll be a survey going out at that time," the superintendent said, describing the vendor platform as providing parcel‑level mapping and the ability for parents to see proposed school assignments for a given address.
On communications, the committee heard results of an outside audit that recommended streamlining the district's messaging platforms and improving administrative workflows. The audit concluded the district website and vendor platform provide much of the necessary functionality but that parents and staff experienced inconsistent delivery and limited analytics for districtwide email and newsletter products; the auditors recommended short‑term technical and workflow fixes and a longer‑term plan to select a more capable communications platform.
Superintendent said district staff have already begun implementing immediate fixes—improving email content, consolidating key notices and testing alternative vendor options—and will propose next steps for the August retreat. Committee members requested ongoing updates and asked that public outreach for the enrollment process include clear timelines and a space for families to ask questions.
