The Mountain View—Los Altos Union High School District Board of Trustees reported in open session on June 16 that, during closed session, the board unanimously approved a compromise agreement with parents of a student to resolve potential and threatened claims against the district. The agreement provides funding for private services and an alternative program for the student during the 2024—25 and 2025—26 school years in an amount not to exceed $85,959.60.
Board members said the vote in closed session was 4—0 in favor. Trustees also approved two routine resolutions in open session: a resolution recognizing Juneteenth as the commemoration of the abolition of slavery and the annual delegation of authority that empowers the superintendent to sign official documents for the 2025 academic year following a positive evaluation.
On business items, the board adopted the budget as it had been presented at the prior meeting. Staff said there were no substantive changes since the earlier presentation; any material changes would require a formal revision and subsequent filings.
The board approved an extension of the superintendent—s contract for one year as required by the contract following a positive evaluation, and approved a cost-of-living salary adjustment as specified in the contract terms.
Each of the routine items was moved and seconded during the meeting and carried without further amendment. Trustees thanked staff for their work on the budget presentation and the contract items.
