The board heard that matching increases across units is a common district practice designed to preserve equity among employee groups.
Trustees asked how the district—s increase compared with neighboring districts. Staff said some districts provided one-time payments or higher percentages (staff mentioned increases up to about 7% in other districts) but cautioned that comparisons can vary because districts use different approaches, including formulas tied to new revenues. Trustees asked staff to provide comparative formulas and examples of local districts— approaches.
The MOU was moved by Trustee Catherine, seconded by Trustee Alex, and approved by the board. Trustees asked that future negotiations be coordinated so that units negotiate on more similar timelines; staff said classified negotiations will begin in the fall in tandem with certificated talks.
