The Fort Atkinson City Council authorized staff to publish a request for proposals for independent financial auditing services covering the fiscal years ending 2025, 2026 and 2027. Clerk/Treasurer Ebert said Baker Tilly has served the city for more than 15 years and that the RFP is standard due diligence as the current contract term expires; estimated quotes were expected in a $30,000–$60,000 range.
Ebert said the general fund will pay the general-audit portion, with utilities contributing for audits that cover utility activities. The RFP timeline targets an audit window beginning in November with presentation to council in May; staff said the timeline is somewhat flexible.
Council also approved the verified claims presented by the director of finance and authorized payment (roll-call vote recorded as 'aye' for members present). The council approved alcohol beverage license renewals for the July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026 licensing period contingent upon payment of any monies owed to the city.
Clerk Ebert said the city began outreach to licensees in March and that staff remained flexible with deadlines; police inspection and other due-diligence checks accompany renewals.
