Board approves consent agenda and multiple personnel actions including new principals and licensed hires

The board approved the consent agenda by unanimous vote and then, following a closed-session review of personnel matters, reconvened in open session and approved multiple personnel recommendations presented by Amy Childress.

In open session the board approved retirements, resignations and new hires. New hires announced and approved included: Christy Hairston (first-grade STEM teacher, Calderon Elementary); Marla Sanchez (third-grade teacher, Seneca Hills Elementary); Victoria Riggins (kindergarten teacher, Seneca Hills Elementary); Catherine Gore (ELA teacher, New Tech at San Felipe Memorial Middle School); Alyssa Brown (assistant band director, Del Rio High School); and Andres Vasquez (assistant band director, Del Rio High School). The board also approved administrative appointments: Jesse Davila for Vice Principal at Del Rio Freshman School and Amy Rodriguez as Assistant Principal at Garfield Middle School. The board approved John Seguess as a licensed physical therapy assistant in the special education department.

Motions and seconds were recorded for the personnel votes. For the new hire slate the motion was made by Linda Webb and seconded by Mr. Galindo; the motion carried unanimously. The vice principal appointment was moved by Amy Haines and seconded by Sean Maras and carried unanimously. The assistant principal appointment at Garfield Middle School was moved by Mr. Galindo and seconded by Amy Haines; the motion carried unanimously. The licensed physical therapy assistant appointment was moved by Ms. Webb and seconded by Jamie Haynes and carried.

The meeting adjourned after trustees approved the personnel recommendations and other routine business.
