The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a notice of public hearing June 16 for a rezoning request affecting 18.14 acres in the Pine Ridge at the Farm subdivision, Section D (Cherokee Trail). The hearing is scheduled for the board's July 7 meeting.
The item was forwarded to the board after the city planning commission considered the request and passed it unanimously at its recent meeting. The request would change zoning on the listed acreage from R1 (low-density residential) to R1A (medium-density residential). The board approved placing the matter on the July 7 agenda by a motion from Alderman Joey Harrison, seconded by Alderman Rick Crawford, which carried.
Because the June 16 action was only to set the public hearing, no final zoning decision was made. The public hearing on July 7 will be the occasion for members of the public and the board to comment on the rezoning request before the board votes. The planning commission record and the hearing notice in the meeting packet were cited as the background for the board's action.
