Lane water tower expected online by November; contractor change and change order still pending

"I think things are gonna transition smoothly," Speaker 3 said. Staff said the contractor plans to start preparations around July 23 and will need a three-day window of favorable weather to lift and set the tank on the pedestal; after the lift, workers will pour a concrete collar to lock the tank in place. "They'll try to give us a 3 day window for the best estimate," Speaker 3 said.
On financial questions, Speaker 2 asked whether Applied Technologies would absorb costs tied to earlier errors. Speaker 3 said a change order is expected, "Hopefully, by July, we'll have a change order for the whole issue that happened on the first contract." Staff also said there will not be cell antennas on the tower.
Council members asked operational questions including the tank's weight when full and the pedestal design; staff said they will follow up with the contractor for technical details. No council action to alter the project scope or budget was taken at the meeting.
