The Committee of the Whole voted to authorize purchase of a replacement set of Hurst hydraulic rescue tools from Air 1 Equipment Inc. of South Elgin for $63,950. The purchase is included in the fiscal year 2026 budget.
Staff described that the tools are used for vehicle extrication, disentanglements, accessing industrial machinery and forcible entry during emergencies. The existing tools have reached the end of their usable life, and the new Hurst tools include technology to cut and spread modern high‑strength vehicle metals, improving deployment time and safety.
Because Hurst maintains exclusive territorial distributorships in the United States, Air 1 Equipment was the single quote received. Fire Chief Antonori was available for questions; none were raised at the dais. The motion passed by voice vote in the Committee of the Whole.
