The Geneva City Council on Monday approved Resolution 2025‑66 to restate and extend site‑plan approval for VentureOne Acquisitions LLC, allowing an additional 12 months to finalize coordination with an end user for construction of a 719,200‑square‑foot industrial building east of Kirk Road between Old Kirk Road and Fabian Parkway.
The item was presented by staff; Council members offered no questions before the roll‑call vote. The motion was made by the mayor and seconded by Palmquist. The clerk recorded six affirmative votes, zero negative votes and four alderpersons absent, and the resolution was approved.
City staff told the council that the Geneva zoning ordinance allows site‑plan approval to be effective for one year unless a building permit has been issued and construction has commenced. Council packets show the original approval was granted in June 2024 by Resolution 2024‑65 for the same project; the current resolution restates that approval and extends it for 12 months while the applicant finalizes coordination with the end user.
Director de Groot was present to answer questions; none were raised from the dais before the vote.
The extension maintains the city’s prior conditions of approval; specific permit milestones or revised timelines were not specified during the council discussion.
