The Community Partnerships Committee reported to Troy City Council on Monday that work is underway to update the city’s parks and recreation master plan and that public input is being collected through a survey and focus groups.
Council member William Twist said the committee met June 9 to review the update process and to acknowledge requests from baseball organizations made during a May 19 council meeting. He said a baseball‑only focus group will be held this month and that representatives from three baseball organizations are part of the master‑plan advisory group.
The committee encouraged residents to complete an online survey about the city’s parks and recreation system. City staff reported the survey had reached about 300 responses by the end of last week and will remain online for approximately another 30 days, providing additional time for public input.
No formal committee recommendation was made at the meeting; the Community Partnerships Committee submitted the report for council’s consideration. The committee identified next steps as continuing outreach through the survey and targeted focus groups and taking survey results into account when preparing draft updates to the master plan for review by boards and council later this summer.
The council and staff referenced plans to bring the park master plan and related zoning updates to various boards and to council likely in August or early September for further discussion.
