Glendora trustees honor outgoing members; Director Janet Stone recognized on eve of retirement

City Councilmember Shauna Elias presented council remarks and thanked trustees Brianna Chu and Tomoko for their service. “I’m here this evening on behalf of Glendora Mayor David Friedendahl and my colleagues on city council to thank our two outgoing board members for your service and dedication to the city of Glendora,” Elias said.
Elias said Brianna Chu served two terms beginning in July 2019, held vice president and president roles, and helped establish the Homework Buddies program. She described Tomoko (surname not provided in the public transcript) as a two-term trustee who served as president and vice president and as the board’s Friends Foundation liaison this year.
Trustees and staff presented tokens of appreciation and shared personal remarks. Director Janet Stone and multiple trustees praised both outgoing members for community engagement, program development and consistent attendance at events and meetings.
Councilmember Elias also led a presentation recognizing Director Janet Stone’s career and service ahead of her retirement. Elias reviewed Stone’s library career—18 years with the Pasadena Public Library before joining Glendora as senior librarian in 2007 and later becoming director—and noted Stone’s service with Rotary and other local organizations. Trustees offered personal thanks and recounted highlights including Stone’s attention to detail, institutional knowledge and support for staff development.
Stone’s departure is ceremonial at this meeting; the board confirmed that two newly appointed trustees (Deborah Hall and Lisa Long) are expected to be sworn in in July, both noted as coming from the Glendora Unified School District. Carrie Johnson was reappointed. The board discussed scheduling a joint meeting with the City Council after the council receives a city facilities capital needs update, tentatively expected June 24.
No formal policy action was taken; trustees filed recognition items and thanked Director Stone and the outgoing trustees for their service.
