Neighbor urges district to address noise, lights and drainage at new multisport facility
Summary

A nearby resident told the Cornwall Central School District Board she and other neighbors remain without a mitigation plan for noise, light intrusion, drainage and screening for the district’s new multisport facility, which is due for completion in August.
Kelly Cassie, who said she lives on Shadowwood Lane next to the high school property, told the board she and neighbors met in January with Superintendent Dr. Dade and staff (Cregan, Fink and Moran) and requested a sound wall, tree screening and attention to lighting and drainage. Cassie said she later followed up by email in April seeking a timeline for a mitigation plan and had received no substantive response.
Cassie said fences and some grading work are in place and that grass had been planted, but no screening trees or noise mitigation had been arranged. She asked: “At what point in time are you going to be addressing our concerns as neighbors? ... We live here. And so my expectation is that there would be some sort of response, some sort of plan to help us.”
Board members and staff acknowledged the comment; the board’s subsequent discussion of facilities work and the capital project (item 15) included several members urging better early community outreach on projects that affect adjacent neighborhoods.
No formal board action was taken during public comment; the matter was discussed later in the meeting in the context of facilities planning and the capital-project survey approval. Cassie’s remarks were entered into the public record for follow-up by district staff.
