Montgomery City Councilors discussed a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement between the city and Montgomery County to build a new Premise Health wellness clinic, but they deferred specific site and lease details pending staff verification.
Councilmembers raised questions about cost and the lease arrangement during the work session. Councilmember Gerard asked how much the project would cost; staff said the rent and specific financial terms would have to come from city staff and emailed documents and that Betty (staff) had the detailed agreement information but was not present in the chamber. "Betty would have to give you the details of the agreement, because I'm not sure," a staff presenter said during the meeting.
The presenter identified as Tate told the council that Premise Health will pay rent for the building. Councilmember Kiffin asked whether the clinic would be built on the site of the former Patterson Elementary School. Tate replied the project would be in that general vicinity but that the exact location could not be confirmed until staff verified utilities such as sewer and water and assessed accessibility. "We're not gonna commit to that until we get the utilities verified," Tate said. He added the final placement will be driven by where utilities are located.
Council members agreed not to commit to a specific parcel at the work session and indicated the item would return with more information at a later meeting. Staff advised that further details, including lease and financial terms, would be provided by the relevant staff member via email or in the regular council meeting packet.
The resolution under discussion would authorize the mayor to execute an agreement between the city and Montgomery County regarding the new Premise Health clinic; the council did not take a vote during the work session and asked staff to supply clarified site and contractual details before formal action.
The council also noted there is a new agent handling the deal in Atlanta and that additional coordination will be necessary before making site commitments.
