Milton council adopts 2026–2031 six‑year transportation improvement program

Director Madden presented the final draft of Milton’s 2026–2031 Six‑Year Transportation Improvement Program at the July 16 council meeting and the council opened a public hearing before voting on the resolution.
Madden said the council reviewed the draft at a study session the previous month and staff made a few changes before finalizing the document, including a new traffic‑calming project addressing cut‑through traffic on Tenth Avenue and the addition of the 20th‑to‑28th sidewalk extension project (project 1.18). He also noted the removal of project 4.2 (West Milton Nature Preserve) from the regional TIP.
Council member Cedar moved to approve Resolution 25‑1988 adopting the 2026–2031 TIP; the motion was seconded and the council voted 7–0 to adopt the program.
Council members expressed appreciation for the emphasis on sidewalks and traffic calming and confirmed that the sidewalk work on 28th Street is budgeted. The council took no additional amendments beyond the changes presented by staff.
