Casa Grande council adopts $387.6 million final budget for fiscal 2026

Roberta, a city staff member, told the council the action at the special meeting would adopt the final budget and that the tentative budget was previously adopted on May 5, 2025. "Tonight, the mayor and council is being asked to adopt the final budget for the city of Casa Grande for the fiscal year ending in 06/30/2026 in the amount of $387,557,008.97," she said.
The staff presentation said the tentative budget was published twice in a local newspaper and that a public hearing on the FY 2026 budget and proposed property tax levy was held as part of the regular council meeting on June 2, 2025. The staff memo cited Title 42 of the Arizona Revised Statutes and noted state law requires the council to hold a special meeting to adopt a final budget.
Council Member Romo, Council Member Dugan, Council Member Bedellin, Council Member Edwards, Council Member Huddleston and Mayor Fitzgibbons voted yes on Resolution No. 5772. Council Member Herman was excused from the meeting and did not vote. The roll call recorded six yes votes and one excused absence; no no votes or abstentions were recorded.
No substantive questions or comments were offered by council members during the meeting, and the council moved immediately to the roll call vote after the staff presentation. After the vote, the mayor closed the special meeting and adjourned.
The final budget document and Resolution No. 5772 are the formal record of the council's action; the staff presentation stated that the FY 2026 final budget reflects the information presented to the mayor and council to date.
