The Galt City Council unanimously adopted a resolution approving a three‑year memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the city and the Galt Police Department Civilians Association (GPDCA), covering July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028.
Human Resources staff summarized the agreement as a three‑year term that applies 1% increases for classifications already at median base salaries and phased market adjustments for others so they sit within 5% of the median base. The MOU creates a permanent‑intermittent status for police dispatchers so those employees can work part‑time hours while remaining eligible for benefits and adds a $50 increase to certified bilingual pay. The city will continue contributing 80% of Kaiser medical plan premiums. Longevity thresholds were adjusted from 15/20 years to 10/15 years of service (same percentage amounts) and vacation accruals were increased so that after 22 years an employee earns six weeks of vacation annually.
Human Resources staff estimated the ongoing cost of salary and benefit changes at roughly $41,000 per year. Councilmembers thanked negotiators on both sides; Laura Sotelo, president of GPDCA, was acknowledged in the meeting for her role in the talks. Councilmember Reid moved to adopt the resolution; Vice Mayor Sandhu seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
