Council OKs alternative landscaping standard to accommodate Northside Air Conditioning building

The Lewisville City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve an alternative landscaping standard to allow Northside Air Conditioning to build a 3,500‑square‑foot metal building at 816 Office Park Circle.

Planning staff said the facility operates in Lewisville since February 2004 and the property was originally developed in 1999; the existing site layout and adjacent parking areas prevent the full installation of the standard landscape buffer. "Northside Air Conditioning has relocated to 816 Office Park Circle... Since the existing site conditions do not accommodate the required landscape buffer due to its parking lot location, the applicant is requesting alternative standard to the landscape requirements," a staff summary said.

The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval 7‑0 on May 2025; council approved the alternative standard on a motion and second with a unanimous vote. Planning staff said conditions and site improvements are set out in the alternative‑standard approval to balance the applicant's needs and the city's landscape goals.

No council discussion or public opposition was recorded at the meeting; staff will proceed with permitting in accordance with the approved alternative standard.
