The Lewisville City Council on Tuesday approved an ordinance rezoning a 0.189‑acre parcel at 563 Minute Lane from agricultural open space (AO) to light industrial zoning.
The Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended unanimous approval on May 20, 2025. Planning staff described the lot as an "island" of AO zoning completely surrounded by light industrial zoning; the rezoning corrects that inconsistency and removes a setback limitation that was restricting redevelopment of a vacant lot to the south.
Planning Director Richard Lutke answered council questions clarifying that the rezoned property itself is not slated for immediate redevelopment but that the change was requested to permit development of the adjacent southern lot owned by the same property owner. After a public hearing with no public speakers, council voted 6‑0 to approve the ordinance (case number 25‑02‑3‑Z).
The approval amends the official zoning map and includes standard severability and effective‑date provisions; the ordinance language matched the caption presented to council.
