Kemper Center board member reports new grants, sponsorships and staffing plans

Supervisor Mary Belsky, speaking for the Kemper Center board, gave a monthly update to the Kenosha County Board about internal changes and external fundraising for the Kemper Center.
Belsky said the Penny Roth Foundation has committed to fully fund the position formerly called executive director; the board has retitled that role to president and expects a salary between $100,000 and $130,000 fully funded by the Penny Roth Foundation. Belsky also said the foundation will fully fund a curator position. She said the Kemper board is actively pursuing accreditation for the facility.
Belsky reported a recent Frank Sinatra tribute event that drew large crowds and significant sponsorship support from Johnson Bank and Spectrum; the event included a VIP tent and fundraising components. She said design partner Gary Gronke provided an in-kind donation of marketing materials valued at about $120,000, and the board has recorded that contribution for financial reporting. The Kemper Center is seeking a part-time bookkeeper (about 20 hours per week) and is recruiting additional board members; Belsky said most current board members are new.
The Kemper board chair will meet monthly with County Executive Samantha Kirkman, Belsky said, and the Kemper board asked that the county receive monthly updates on the center’s changes and fundraising activity.
Belsky closed by inviting supervisors to suggest topics they would like covered in future updates.
