The Sunbury City Council on June 28 approved a resolution to contract construction administration and inspection services with DLZ for the 2025 street improvement program and heard readings related to the municipal building lower-level renovation and the Columbus Street parking-lot project.
Council voted to pass Resolution 2025.15, authorizing DLZ to provide construction administration and inspection services for the 2025 street improvement program. The roll call recorded six yeas and the motion passed. City finance committee members had described the inspection role as needed as the paving program gets underway.
During committee reports, a finance committee member (Donner) told the council that the municipal building renovation project's low bidder is Setterin and that the company's bid was "20% below budget." He said the renovation work is largely cosmetic (painting, light fixtures, ceiling, carpet and some bathroom updates) and expected to run about six months.
"We have a company by the name of Setterin that will be doing the work, 20% below budget," the finance report said.
Resolution 2025.14, the formal award for the Sunbury Municipal Building Renovations lower-level project to Setterin (reading only), was presented as a reading. Resolution 2025.16, approving construction administration and inspection services with Environmental Design Group for the Columbus Street parking-lot improvements, was read as a first reading; that work was noted to be planned for September through November.
Engineering staff also briefed council on Walnut Street stabilization work, saying compaction testing is awaiting a dry spell and that the contractor Ironsight will evaluate the site next week if weather permits. The engineer reminded residents of an upcoming SR 37 widening public meeting with ODOT and American StructurePoint; council staff said outreach notices have been circulated.
Council did not alter the contracts at the June 28 meeting; the DLZ inspection contract was approved to proceed and the other items remain in the ordinance/resolution review process.
