The court designated County Judge Felton as McLennan County’s initial representative to the Central Texas Water Alliance planning board, a multijurisdictional partnership created by gubernatorial authorization to explore regional water supply planning.
Judge Felton summarized the alliance’s purpose — a partnership among counties, municipalities and water providers to plan and potentially secure additional water for future industrial, municipal and individual needs — and asked the court to authorize him to serve on the planning board while the alliance establishes its broader membership. "To start out with, to get the planning started, there would be a full member board. And what I'm asking the commissioners do to authorize me to be a member of that 4, member board until the next step..." he said.
The court approved the designation and noted an organizational meeting for partners is scheduled July 3 in Bell County; Judge Felton said the alliance will provide planning to meet long‑term water needs for both counties and partners.
