The Connellsville Area School District Board of Education approved several personnel hires and personnel actions, including the appointment of Timothy Witt as director of human resources at an annual salary of $113,846, effective June 19, 2025.
The board voted to approve multiple teacher and support hires and appointments presented during the personnel section. The motions for appointments stated each hire is contingent on verification of physical examination, TB tests, drug screens, required clearances and completion of other employment requirements under board policy and Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) regulations.
Other approved personnel actions included the hiring of an elementary physical education teacher (Jay Ebsen Novak), a speech and language pathologist (Alexa Deason), a JROTC instructor (David Davis, contingent on Army JROTC Cadet Command approval), additions to professional and support substitute lists and approval of permanent contracts for several staff members after completion of three years of satisfactory service. Motions to hire and approve substitutes were moved and seconded and recorded as carried.
Board members questioned fringe benefits for the director hire during discussion; the meeting minutes record a brief exchange confirming fringe benefits were discussed and accepted prior to the final vote. The board also approved leaves of absence and conditional approvals for substitutes as listed on the personnel agenda.
All personnel motions were presented under the personnel agenda and were recorded as carried in the meeting record.
