Community Preservation Committee tables CPC plan update until August

The Community Preservation Committee in Fall River City voted Thursday to table its scheduled review and update of the committee’s annual CPC plan until the committee’s August meeting.

The committee took the action after a brief discussion about the plan’s purpose and readership. “Basically, the CPC plan is your working document, on how you as a committee want to move forward in that fiscal year with your projects,” a staff member said, adding that the plan must be the subject of a public meeting and be posted online for comments before final approval by the city council.

Committee members debated who the plan is written for and how closely members should review it before finalizing changes. James Hornsby said he had not read the document as carefully as he would have liked and asked who the intended reader is. The staff member replied that the plan serves primarily as the committee’s business plan but is also intended for applicants and residents who want to understand the committee’s priorities.

A motion to table the review and update of the CPC plan until the next meeting scheduled in August was made and seconded and approved by roll call. Recorded votes included Michael Farris (yes), Alexander Silva (yes), John Brandt (yes), James Hornsby (yes), Rick Mancini (yes) and Christine Kintaro Allinger (yes). The committee discussed placing the plan on the city website and using the August meeting to prepare any formal letters or recommendations arising from the review.

The committee chair closed the item after confirming the plan would be returned to the August agenda for further consideration.
