Martin County outlines Marty bus fixed routes, veterans rides and paratransit options

Martin County Public Transit Administrator Ash Beecher said the county operates five fixed bus routes Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., runs a veterans route to the VA medical center in Palm Beach County and offers an eligibility-based door-to-door paratransit service for riders with disabilities.
The services are intended to connect residents to jobs, medical appointments and other daily needs across Martin County and nearby communities. Beecher also promoted the Marty Transit mobile app, which provides real-time route locations and trip planning, and encouraged residents to use the app or call customer service to book rides.
Beecher said the fixed-route network covers a wide geography in the county, reaching as far north as the Walmart in Fort St. Lucie and as far south as U.S. 1 at Cove Road, and serving Indiantown, Polk Sound and the city of Stuart. She noted a dedicated route designed for Martin County veterans that travels to the VA medical center in Palm Beach County so veterans can reach medical appointments there.
The county’s paratransit program is an eligibility-based service for people whose disabilities prevent them from using the standard 30-foot fixed-route buses, Beecher said. Riders apply for eligibility; once approved they may "call our customer service line and book a trip up to 7 days in advance or as close as 1 day in advance and we'll send a smaller cutaway vehicle to your door," she said. Beecher called the program "a very cool program and our residents love it."
Beecher described the Marty Transit app as available on major mobile platforms and able to show buses in real time so riders can plan where and when to catch a bus. The episode did not provide a customer-service phone number, fares, or details about eligibility criteria beyond what Beecher described.
For scheduling, booking or more information, Beecher directed listeners to the Marty Transit app or Martin County transit customer service, officials said.
