Committee reviews change to student transportation insurance to cover rented or leased vehicles

On June 17 the Union County Public Schools policy committee reviewed proposed revisions to Policy 8-02 (insurance for student transportation) that would require the district or schools to provide liability insurance when renting or leasing vehicles, rather than only when the district owns a vehicle.
A staff member said the change is being recommended to address that requirement and asked that the committee forward the revision to the board for review at the July meeting. Committee members had no further questions and voted to send the revision to the full board for review; no final policy change occurred at the committee meeting.
The revision will proceed to the full board for review at the July meeting.
