Policy committee advances licensure, staff–student and child-abuse policy updates to full board

The Union County Public Schools policy committee on June 17 voted to send three updated policies — Policy 3-02e (licensure), Policy 3-06 (staff–student relations) and Policy 4-08 (child abuse and related threats to children) — to the full school board for approval at the July meeting.
Staff told the committee the revisions to the three policies are identical and were made to align with recent state board policy changes. "The revisions are all the same in all 3 policies, and they are to align with revisions to a state board policy," a staff member said, adding the committee reviewed the policies in May and the board reviewed them in June and that "there's been no stakeholder input since that time, and staff would request that these go for approval at the July meeting."
Committee members also advanced revisions to Policy 7-07 (use of facilities and equipment) that staff said clarify the reservation process and address an online portal now used for FUSA facilities reservations. "The changes to this policy are to address the online portal that we now use for reservations for the FUSA facilities and to provide some clarification on the process and the procedures," the staff member said.
The committee moved and approved, by voice vote, sending the second-review policies to the full board. Staff indicated no additional stakeholder input has been received since prior reviews in May and June.
The policies will next appear on the full school board agenda for consideration at the July meeting.
