The City of 2 Rivers announced the appointment of Kyle Cordell as the new city manager; Cordell is scheduled to begin work Monday, Aug. 4.
City staff said Cordell currently serves as director of management services and deputy city clerk for the village of Lake Zurich, Illinois, and holds a master of public administration from Northern Illinois University. Staff noted Cordell has roughly 12 years’ experience with Lake Zurich.
City officials also told the council that public comments collected at a May 29 community meeting about the city manager recruitment will be published as an addendum to the minutes after review by labor counsel; the city said candidate assessment materials such as test results and backgrounds remain confidential.
The council and staff said they expect Cordell to begin orientation and background briefings prior to his start date so he can “hit the ground running.” The interim staffing and final transition details will be addressed in coming weeks.
