County officials report grant timing delay, opioid fund distribution, transportation contributions and pavilion ribbon-cutting

County board members used committee reports and the consent agenda to share multiple operational updates: a USDA revolving loan fund decision was delayed until August; the ROSC council received about $10,000 from the county opioid fund; Montrose and another entity contributed to the Effingham County Transportation Fund; and the historic courtyard pavilion ribbon-cutting is scheduled for June 20.

Board Member Dave Campbell reported he spoke with USDA about a revolving loan fund grant; USDA initially expected approval in June but pushed the decision to August. Norbert Saltwheedle said the ROSC council received "$10,000 or a little bit more than that" from the county opioid fund and presented a report on its past year of activities.

Jeremy Daters thanked Montrose for contributing to the Effingham County Transportation Fund. The consent agenda also included approval to accept a Daughters of the American Revolution bench donation for the historic courtyard, a disbursement of $233 in general funds to the Effingham County Museum for water bills, and hotel/motel fund disbursements of $1,000 each for Edgewood Fest and the Effingham-Newton Rotary fireworks. The board approved those consent items as part of the larger consent vote.

The board also approved use permits for the historic courtyard and gazebo on multiple dates and confirmed a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the courtyard and gazebo on June 20 at 7:30 a.m., pending representative approvals. No additional budgetary breakdowns or grant award documents were presented during the meeting.
