The Ravalli County Board of County Commissioners approved the DUI Task Force's preliminary plan and budget for fiscal year 2026 after a presentation and brief questions on May 28, 2025.
Glenda, presenting for the DUI Task Force, said the proposed plan keeps the group's core activities — impaired-driving education (IDEP) for schools, enforcement and compliance checks with local retailers, and public outreach campaigns — and anticipates using house-bill and driver's-license reinstatement fee revenue to pay for programming. The task force reported running three full-day IDEP events at schools this year (343 students) plus assemblies at other schools; staff said the program reaches more than 1,500 students when assemblies are included.
Glenda outlined program costs, noted a $4,030 house-bill deposit received in July 2024 and typical quarterly reinstatement fees of $4,000–$5,500. She asked the board to approve trackable use of those funds for education and outreach; commissioners asked for minor corrections and instructed staff to forward a corrected copy to the state. The board voted to approve the plan and budget as presented.
The task force also described continued use of a county-owned radar speed trailer and portable equipment for compliance checks, and flagged rising speaker/assembly costs for school outreach. Glenda said the task force will continue coordinating with law enforcement agencies and schools and will submit final corrected documentation to the state by Friday as requested.
Commissioners seconded praise for the task force's community programming and asked staff to forward the corrected budget worksheet and plan to state officials.
