Committee rejects amendment to shift $112,000 from State's Attorney to Office of Inspector General

A proposed amendment to move $112,000 from the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office to the Office of the Inspector General failed in committee on a recorded voice vote.
Councilman Chris Gray explained the amendment as "taking money from the state's attorney's office and putting it over to the OIG for the additional PIN they would need for employment," and said the request originated with Councilwoman Odette Ramos.
Council members voted the amendment down. Councilman Isaac Schleifer said during the vote explanation: "While I do so fully support the OIG's office, I certainly don't want to be pulling, a PIN or any funding away from the state's attorney's office with the great work they've been doing. So I vote no." The committee recorded no yes votes on the amendment and the motion failed.
The failed amendment will not be incorporated into the FY2026 ordinance of estimates; the committee proceeded to other items on the agenda.
