Resident urges city to fund animal welfare expansion and adopt no-kill policy for adoptable animals

At the public-comment portion of the Mayor and Board Commissioners meeting, resident Terry Clark urged the commission to increase funding and staff for the city’s animal welfare department and to make the shelter a no-kill facility for animals deemed adoptable.
“My name is Terry Clark. I live at 1760 East Cherokee Avenue, Enid, Oklahoma,” Clark said. She asked the city to enforce existing animal laws and to provide funding to expand the shelter and staffing levels so animals receive care rather than being euthanized. "We need funding to extend the building at animal welfare and for enough employees to work there and give the care the animals deserve," she said.
Clark told the commission she had sent a letter to each council member and handed a copy to the council during the meeting. No action or staff response was recorded during the meeting; the comment was entered during the public-comment period.
